A bill in the Pennsylvania legislature to accept millions of federal dollars for solar projects for low-income families has suddenly put the state’s solar industry on edge, because of an amendment they worry will upend net-metering.
A bill allowing the Pa. Energy Development Authority to access $156 million for the federal Solar for All program passed a first-round vote in a House committee.

The Solar for Schools grant program will cover up to half the project cost of installing solar for schools and community colleges. Applications are due Jan. 31, 2025.
The southeast Pa.utility will pay the solar provider for the electricity and for providing the capacity — meaning the provider gets paid to guarantee 25 MW of solar will be available.
