Justin Hopper

Journalist and author Justin Hopper focuses his work on two disparate, and equally beloved, places: his adopted hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, and the rolling hills of Southern England - a "hotbed of eccentricity." Covering the former, Hopper has won Keystone and Golden Quill awards for his writing primarily about music and the arts, and recently published Making The Connections, a book about community projects enacted as a part of Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary celebration. For the latter, he has written about rock-music tourism, soccer hooligans, folk music, and more for national publications such as Paste and Spin. He is currently working on a book seeking an alternative brand of English identity along the 100-mile South Downs Way.

Stories by Justin Hopper:

Fountain of Youth: 91-year-old Naturalist Esther Allen - It used to be said that there was a Fountain of Youth in Pittsburgh's North Park, although naturalist Esther Allen will tell you that it turned out to just be a leaky pipe. But that doesn't mean the outdoors can't keep you young. At 91 years old, Allen still leads tours and teaches classes about wildflowers. And, as the Allegheny Front's Justin Hopper found out, she's tough to keep up with. Aired week of 07/22/2009.
